Region
11 agencies recruit for schools in Americas, including FlyTeachers, Teaching Nomad and chk Education.
The Americas hold about 15 percent of international schools, according to ISC Research data reported by ICEF Monitor, and American accreditors are prominent there. That affects what teachers should expect: American curriculum language, US-style grade levels and different accreditation bodies.
UK teachers can still find posts, particularly in British, IB and bilingual schools.
The Middle States Association says it has accredited members in 117 countries and accredits more than 3,000 schools, systems and providers. The NEASC Commission on International Education accredits international and American schools from primary through secondary level, and WASC's Accrediting Commission for Schools says it has served international schools since 1962. Cognia reports its accreditation is recognised in more than 100 countries.
A teacher joining an American-accredited school should expect to hear about self-study, peer visits and standards-based planning.
Check whether the school is accredited now or only a candidate, since accreditors publish member directories you can search.
The Latin American Heads Conference is on GOV.UK's list of bodies supporting British Schools Overseas. This suggests a British-accredited presence in the region, although the list does not say how many schools. Bilingual programmes are also common worldwide: ICEF reports that over a third of international schools offer them.
Ask which curriculum the post uses, what language the pupils speak at home, whether the school expects fluency in a second language, and how work permission is arranged. Visa conditions vary by country and we do not summarise them here.
Also ask what support there is for new arrivals, such as help with housing, and whether the contract is local or international. The difference can change your tax and benefits position, so seek independent advice.

Not always, and requirements differ by school and country. Ask the recruiter whether QTS or PGCE is accepted.
Some posts, particularly bilingual ones, ask for it. Many English-medium posts do not, but it helps.
Cognia, MSA, NEASC and WASC are major US-based accreditors that work with international schools. CIS accredits internationally too.
