Region
14 agencies recruit for schools in Africa, including FlyTeachers, Alliance Recruitment Agency and chk Education.
Africa accounts for about 12 percent of international schools in the ISC Research data reported by ICEF Monitor in February 2026. It is the fourth-largest region by that measure, after Asia, the Americas and Europe. For teachers, this means fewer posts than in the Gulf or Asia, but a distinctive set of schools.
Data on the region is thinner than for the larger markets, so this page is open about what we could and could not source.
ICEF reports no African country among its five largest markets by school count, nor among those named as high-growth. We could not find a published figure for teacher vacancies by African country, so we give none. Agencies can tell you what they are handling at the moment.
Across all regions, the ICEF data says accredited schools grew 34 percent, so look for accreditation when you assess a school you do not know.
COBIS names Africa among the regions where its member schools sit, alongside Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas. Cambridge International lists Ghana, Egypt, Ethiopia, Botswana and many others in its school finder, and reports more than 10,000 Cambridge schools in over 160 countries.
A school's membership of COBIS or its British Schools Overseas status is a guide to quality, and BSO inspection reports are published by the Department for Education.
We have no single source covering work visas across Africa, and none should be assumed. Use the school and the destination country's official immigration service to confirm what you need, and read the UK government's travel advice for the country before you accept an offer.

Yes. COBIS includes Africa among its regions, and BSO accreditation applies to eligible schools anywhere.
We did not find a sourced comparison, so we cannot say. Ask for the full package in writing.
Look for accreditation, such as BSO status or membership of a recognised association, and ask for references from current staff.
